Godiva in the City will bring two days of music, culture and family activity to Coventry city centre on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July.
The Coventry City Council-run festival is scheduled to run from 12pm to 8pm on both days. Entry to the wider city-centre programme is free, while tickets are required for the dedicated music stages at Millennium Place and Gosford Street Car Park.
Tickets for those stage areas are due to become available from 10am on Tuesday 23 June. The event is aimed at residents, visitors and families looking for a city-centre weekend built around live music, performance and creative activity.
Headliners at Millennium Place and Gosford Street Car Park
The music programme will be led by David Rodigan, The Selecter and Chip, bringing together nationally recognised names and Coventry-linked talent.
Rodigan is billed as a reggae legend, while The Selecter carry a direct Coventry connection through the city’s Two Tone heritage. Chip adds a UK rap headline name to the weekend, giving the event a broad music mix across the two days.
The stages will also feature local artists and this year’s Godiva Calling winners. The council says the aim is to place emerging Coventry performers alongside established acts, reflecting the city’s long-running reputation for producing musicians and creative work.
The two ticketed music areas are the only parts of the event requiring tickets. All other activities and attractions across the city centre are set to remain freely accessible.
Family activity in the Cathedral Ruins
Away from the music stages, the Cathedral Ruins will become a Secret Garden for the weekend. The programme is described as a storybook-style journey with characters, nature-themed activity, dance, shows and hands-on sessions.
Coventry organisations Fabularium, Ego Theatre, Ascension Dance and Highly Sprung are all listed as part of the programme, with each delivering a bespoke performance for Godiva in the City.
One of the major set pieces will be Unity, a large-scale circus spectacle featuring high-wire walking, dance-trapeze and aerial stunts. It will be performed to a piece from former Poet Laureate John Bernard.
Godiva in the City also sits within Coventry’s wider summer events programme, which has already included We Are Back: Live and Windrush Festival. Readers planning more local events can also see our guide to free Coventry summer concerts.
