Drawing Inspiration opens free in Glasgow this September
Drawing Inspiration will bring 13 drawings by internationally renowned artists to The Burrell Collection in Glasgow from Tuesday 1 September to Thursday 26 November 2026. Admission is free, but visitors must reserve a viewing slot.
The exhibition is open to all ages at the museum, 2060 Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow, G43 1AT. Free slots become available to book from 10am on Friday 10 July through Glasgow Life.
Thirteen drawings shaped by different ways of seeing
The compact exhibition includes work by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, Édouard Manet and Jean-François Millet. Rather than grouping a long succession of objects into a sprawling display, Drawing Inspiration centres attention on 13 individual works.
Glasgow Life describes the exhibition as an opportunity to explore drawing as a way of seeing, making and reflecting on the surrounding world. That focus should suit established art enthusiasts as well as families and visitors interested in looking closely at how an artist translates observation onto paper.

Free entry requires an advance viewing slot
There is no charge for Drawing Inspiration, although a free viewing slot must be booked. The organiser has not published a separate daily start time for the exhibition, so visitors should check The Burrell Collection’s opening times when choosing a date.
Bookings are due to open at 10am on 10 July. Reservations can be made through the Glasgow Life event listing, while the listed box-office telephone number is 0141 353 8000.

The museum has a café, with service from 10am to 4.30pm on Monday to Thursday and Saturday, and from 11am to 4.30pm on Friday and Sunday. Last orders are at 3.15pm, after which sandwiches and cakes remain available. A baby-feeding space is provided in the quiet room, while a cloakroom is available on request at reception.
Accessible facilities at The Burrell Collection
The Burrell Collection provides wheelchair access, an accessible lift and accessible toilets. It is identified by the venue as Scotland’s first museum with two Changing Places toilets, alongside nine additional accessible toilets.
There are 19 marked accessible parking bays in front of the museum. Parking is free for Blue Badge holders when a valid badge is displayed. The free electric shuttle bus serving Pollok Country Park is wheelchair accessible, with capacity for one wheelchair at a time.

Only assistance dogs are permitted inside The Burrell Collection. Visitors who need more detailed accessibility information can consult the venue’s AccessAble guide before travelling.
