Free fireworks return to Poole and Bournemouth this week
Four free summer firework displays will take place at Poole Quay and Bournemouth beach across two consecutive weeks, beginning on Thursday, 27 August 2026.
The events are open to residents, visitors and the general public, with no booking required. Every display starts at 10pm. Poole Quay hosts the first and third evenings, while Bournemouth beach hosts the following Friday displays.
Firework dates at Poole Quay and Bournemouth beach
| Venue | Date and time |
|---|---|
| Poole Quay | Thursday, 27 August at 10pm |
| Bournemouth beach | Friday, 28 August at 10pm |
| Poole Quay | Thursday, 3 September at 10pm |
| Bournemouth beach | Friday, 4 September at 10pm |
BCP Council confirmed the returning programme on Wednesday, 26 August following discussions with partners, including the emergency services. The council said the displays could return after the wildfire risk across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole had reduced.
The schedule covers one display at each waterfront during the final week of August, followed by another at each venue in early September. The council said the additional dates rearrange previously cancelled fireworks and will take place at no additional cost to the authority.

What to expect at each waterfront
Fireworks are the confirmed attraction at both locations, but the programme is not identical. At Poole Quay, live music and family entertainment will take place before the fireworks finale on both confirmed evenings. The source does not give individual performance times or further programme details, so only the 10pm start for the display itself is confirmed.
No equivalent pre-fireworks entertainment has been announced for Bournemouth beach. Visitors choosing between the venues should therefore treat the beach fireworks at 10pm as the only confirmed programme element there, while Poole Quay has additional entertainment leading up to its finale.
Councillor Richard Herrett, BCP Council’s portfolio holder for destination, leisure and commercial operations, said the returning events were a highlight for many residents and visitors. He said they bring communities together and support local businesses and the wider visitor economy, while asking those attending to enjoy the fireworks responsibly.

Admission and details to check before travelling
Admission is free and advance booking is not required for any of the four displays. However, the council announcement does not provide a precise street address, transport arrangements or accessibility information for either waterfront. People who need those details should consult the latest official information from BCP Council before travelling rather than assume the arrangements are the same at both venues.
The first confirmed event is at Poole Quay on Thursday, 27 August at 10pm. Bournemouth beach follows on Friday, 28 August at the same time, before the programme returns to Poole Quay on 3 September and Bournemouth beach on 4 September.
