The stage at Winston Churchill Theatre will be given over to crime fiction on Saturday 13 June, as Hillingdon Libraries Crime Festival returns with its largest author line-up to date.
The full-day festival runs from 10am to 5pm, with tickets priced at £12. It is aimed at readers, book groups and aspiring writers who want a day of live author talks, book discussion and insight into crime writing.
Hillingdon Council says more than 15 bestselling crime authors will appear at the event, including Tom Hindle, Sarah Yarwood-Lovett, TM Logan, Louise Candlish and Araminta Hall.
Saturday programme at Winston Churchill Theatre
The Hillingdon Libraries Crime Festival is being held at Winston Churchill Theatre in Hillingdon. The event follows last year’s sell-out festival, when more than 200 visitors heard from nine leading crime writers.
This year’s programme has been expanded into a full day. The confirmed format includes live talks, book discussions and writing insights, with the council presenting the event as part of Hillingdon libraries’ wider push to bring readers together around authors and books.
The festival grew out of the regular Coffee and Crime events held at Hillingdon libraries. That makes this year’s theatre event a larger version of a format already familiar to local crime fiction fans: authors in conversation, readers comparing notes, and writers hearing how published novelists approach plot, suspense and character.
Crime authors confirmed for the festival
The line-up named by Hillingdon Council includes Tom Hindle, Sarah Yarwood-Lovett, TM Logan, Louise Candlish and Araminta Hall. The council says more than 15 bestselling authors are due to take to the stage across the day.
For readers, the draw is the chance to hear several crime writers in one place rather than attending separate author events across the year. For aspiring writers, the practical value sits in the writing insights promised as part of the day’s programme.
The festival also sits alongside a wider calendar of author events at Hillingdon libraries during 2026. Readers who followed the earlier local announcement on the Hillingdon crime festival line-up will now have the core planning details in one place: date, time, venue and ticket price.
Part of the National Year of Reading
Hillingdon Council says the festival forms part of a wider programme of library events being held during 2026 to mark the National Year of Reading. The campaign is focused on promoting literacy, encouraging reading for pleasure and helping people discover books and authors.
Daniel Kennedy, Hillingdon Council’s Corporate Director of Residents Services, said the festival was “a fantastic event for book lovers” and described it as an example of the council finding new ways to connect people with reading.
He said Hillingdon libraries are “welcoming community spaces that bring people together”, adding that residents and visitors would have more opportunities during the National Year of Reading to enjoy events and activities, discover new authors and share a love of reading.
