Manchester City parade route, times and Pep farewell: what residents need to know

By Beehive Web Newsroom

Manchester City fans are expected to gather in large numbers across Manchester on Monday 25 May for an open-top bus parade celebrating the club’s men’s, women’s and academy teams, with the day also marking Pep Guardiola’s departure after a decade in charge.

The parade build-up begins in the Northern Quarter from 4pm, before the buses set off at 5pm. Supporters can watch for free along the route, while a separate ticketed After Party will take place later at Co-op Live.

Manchester City Council has confirmed temporary road closures across the city to support the event. Fans are being asked to use public transport where possible, travel light, avoid large bags and not bring drinks in glass bottles.

Parade details for fans heading into Manchester

The event is centred on Manchester City’s season celebrations and Guardiola’s farewell, bringing together the men’s, women’s and academy sides.

The free public parade will begin with a kick-off moment involving all teams at the start of the route. The buses will then move through the city before heading towards the Etihad Stadium, where the parade is due to finish with a final celebratory moment outside the Colin Bell West Stand Reception.

A separate event, The After Party, will be held at Co-op Live after the parade. It is ticketed and is expected to include live music, entertainment, player interviews from both the men’s and women’s teams, and special guests. The full parade will also be shown inside Co-op Live for people attending the venue.

Travel advice for supporters and residents

Fans heading to the parade or Co-op Live are being urged to use public transport where possible. The request is aimed at reducing pressure on roads already affected by closures and crowd movement.

Supporters should travel light, avoid large bags and leave glass bottles at home. With warm temperatures expected, people planning to stand along the route should think ahead about water, sun protection and journey times.

The parade also has a wider civic note. Councillor Bev Craig, Leader of Manchester City Council, said Guardiola’s impact had gone beyond football, describing his decade in the city as “a decade-long masterclass in both leadership and teamwork”.

Craig said Guardiola would be remembered as “a true Manchester legend” and “the honorary Mancunian he undoubtedly is”.
