Model railway enthusiasts will gather in Cambridge this September for RailEx East, an exhibition hosted by the Cambridge Model Railway Club. The event is set to take place on 12th September 2026 at Cambridge Regional College, offering a full day of displays, trade stalls, and society presentations.

Event Schedule and Venue Details

The exhibition will run from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Entry is priced at £8 per person. The venue, located on Kings Hedges Road, is designed to be accessible, with the exhibition area featuring flat terrain and full wheelchair access throughout. Assistance dogs are welcome at the site.

Attendees can expect a diverse range of model railway layouts covering various scales and themes. The confirmed list includes:

  • 4mm scale: Shau Kei Wan & All Cars Stop Here, Trinity Dock Street Bridge
  • 00 gauge: File Mile House, Milo Mill, Little Colne, Lydgate, A Brief Encounter, Clone Line, Waterside (Modern Image), and more
  • N gauge: Modular N gauge, Oakgrove Central, and the Big Boy Driving Experience (1:160)
  • Other scales: Royston Wharf (009), Three Mills on Ply (3mm), Rock Ridge (H0 US Outline), South Lynn (0), Lockes Down (0), Fen End Pit (16mm Industrial), and Fleebight Wharf (0)

In addition to the layouts, several traders will be present, including Great Eastern Models, Keith’s Model Railways, and DCC Model Railway Signalling. Societies such as the Mid Suffolk Light Railway and the Battle of Britain Locomotive Society will also be in attendance to provide further context for enthusiasts.

Practical Visitor Information

Refreshments, including tea, coffee, and light snacks, will be available on-site. Please note that the catering facilities operate on a CARD PAYMENTS ONLY basis.

For those planning their journey, the venue offers the following transport options:

  • By Car: The college is located just off the A14 (J32 from the West, J33 from the East) and provides ample free parking, including designated blue badge spaces.
  • By Bus: The venue is a two-minute walk from the CRC Guided Bus stop, with direct services from Cambridge City Centre, Cambridge North, Trumpington Park & Ride, Huntingdon, and St Ives.
  • By Rail: Cambridge North station is the nearest rail link. From there, visitors can take the Guided Busway for two stops or complete the journey on foot in approximately 25 minutes.
  • By Bike: Dedicated cycle parking is available on-site.
