Argyll and Bute pupils return as a fresh term opens
By Beehive Web editorial team
Children, young people and school staff across Argyll and Bute are returning to classrooms as the new school year gets under way.
Argyll and Bute Council’s education policy lead, Councillor Kieron Green, marked the start of term with a message to learners, families and staff on 14 August 2026.
New term begins across Argyll and Bute
The return includes children starting nursery, pupils entering primary school, young people moving into secondary education and those beginning their final year.

The council’s statement did not announce changes to school arrangements. It was issued to recognise the start of the academic year and the different stages pupils are entering across Argyll and Bute schools.
Green described the new term as bringing “fresh opportunities to learn, make connections, develop skills and build confidence”.
Support for learners remains the central priority
The councillor said the authority wants every child and young person to receive high-quality learning experiences and the support needed to pursue their goals, wherever they live in Argyll and Bute.

He also pointed to partnerships between education staff, families, carers and communities as part of the council’s approach. The stated aim is for learners with different talents and ambitions to feel valued, included and able to develop confidence throughout their education.
Staff and school leavers included in the message
Green thanked teachers and other education workers for their care and commitment. Early years staff and partner providers who continued delivering childcare during the summer also received specific recognition.
Those who have now left school were wished well as they move into employment, training, college or university. The council’s message closed by wishing returning pupils and staff a positive and rewarding start to the term.
