Residents in Slade Green and Sidcup have three weeks to submit feedback on new planning applications affecting protected conservation areas. The London Borough of Bexley Council has published details of two residential proposals alongside a major procurement opportunity for local building contractors.

Slade Green and Sidcup Planning Proposals

The first application concerns a property at 15 Oak Road in Slade Green. The proposal seeks retrospective planning permission for a detached single-storey outbuilding located in the rear garden. Because the site sits within the Oak Road Conservation Area, the council must assess whether the structure maintains the character and appearance of the historic neighborhood.

In Sidcup, a separate application has been filed for 29 Station Road within the Christ Church Conservation Area. The homeowner, Mrs C Royce, intends to replace existing windows with uPVC double-glazed units. The project also includes replacing external doors with composite or uPVC materials designed to match the current aesthetic. These updates are often scrutinized in conservation zones to ensure modern materials do not clash with traditional streetscapes.

As these developments undergo review, local infrastructure also faces changes; for instance, Bexley drivers face diversions as major roadworks begin on several key routes this month.

Council Procurement and Tenders

Beyond residential planning, the council is inviting expressions of interest for its Building Services Framework, covering Lots 1 through 11. This tender is aimed at firms capable of providing comprehensive building maintenance and construction services across the borough’s corporate estate.

Interested parties must submit their documentation via the London Tenders website by mid-May. This framework is a significant part of the council’s 2026 infrastructure strategy, streamlining how municipal repairs and upgrades are managed.

How to Participate

Richard Turek, Head of Development Management, confirmed that all public observations must be submitted in writing. Members of the public can view full plans via the Planning Application Information Online system.

Responses can be sent to the Development Management office at the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath or submitted digitally via the council’s portal. Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1995, any comments made will be made available for public inspection.
