Bexley road closures and planning notices issued
Bexley residents have new public notices to check this week, with road closures, parking restrictions and one planning application affecting Erith, Sidcup and Bexley from early June.
The notices, dated 27 May 2026, include Thames Water-related works on Frinsted Road, Royal Road and Maylands Drive, plus one-day highway improvement works around Upton Road South. A planning application has also been lodged for a domestic extension within the Brook Street Conservation Area in Erith.
Roads affected from 1 and 2 June
| Area | What changes |
|---|---|
| Frinsted Road, Erith | Phased road closures between Beechfield Road and Twigg Close, Stuart Mantle Way and Filby Close, and Filby Close and Birling Road. |
| Royal Road and Maylands Drive, Sidcup | Waiting and loading restrictions on both sides for the full length of both roads. |
| Upton Road South, Bexley | Road closure from Basing Drive to Cross Lane, with closures at the junctions of Finsbury Way, Riverdale Road and Love Lane. |
The Frinsted Road order begins on 1 June and is valid for up to 18 months, although the works are expected to be completed within that period. The work is for a new water main by Galliford Try on behalf of Thames Water.
Royal Road and Maylands Drive restrictions also begin on 1 June and are expected to last up to 124 days while M Group Water Ltd carries out water mains replacement works for Thames Water.
Upton Road South restrictions begin on 2 June and are expected to last one day. Access is due to be maintained for Upton Road South, Finsbury Way, Riverdale Road and Love Lane while the works are under way.

Diversions and parking restrictions
Drivers using Frinsted Road should follow signed diversions via routes including Stelling Road, Stuart Mantle Way, Birling Road, Colyers Lane and Ramsden Road, depending on the closure point.
For Upton Road South, the stated diversion is via Upton Road South, Parkhurst Road, Parkhill Road and Riverdale Road, with the reverse route also applying.
Parking restrictions will apply at the Upton Road South junctions with Finsbury Way, Riverdale Road and Love Lane. On Royal Road and Maylands Drive, waiting and loading restrictions are due to be removed when they are no longer required.
