Students across the London Borough of Bexley received their GCSE results today, 20 August, marking the culmination of years of study. As pupils navigate their next steps, the local authority has issued a message of support, acknowledging the dedication of students, teachers, and families throughout the examination period.

Councillor Caroline Newton, Cabinet Member for Finance, Corporate Services and Education, congratulated the cohort on their achievements. She noted that while today is a moment of celebration for many, the council recognises that results day can be a challenging period for those who may not have received the outcomes they anticipated.

Support and guidance for students

For students who are unsure about their next steps or require professional advice, several resources remain available:

  • Post-16 options: Information regarding A-levels, apprenticeships, and other further education routes can be found on the National Careers Service website and the Careerpilot platform.
  • Mental health support: Young people struggling with exam-related stress or anxiety can access the SHOUT 85258 service by texting ‘SHOUT’ to 85258. Alternatively, Childline offers confidential support online or by phone at 0800 1111.
