Buckinghamshire services move to Joy Marketplace: practical information

Buckinghamshire residents looking for adult support services, local groups, community organisations and activities will need to use Joy Marketplace from 1 July.

The new platform is replacing Bucks Online Directory as the council’s main signposting point for adult services across the county. Local groups and providers that currently rely on the old directory are being asked to create a fresh listing on Joy Marketplace so residents can continue to find them.

Joy Marketplace takes over from 1 July

Joy Marketplace will become the main online place to find adult services, support groups, organisations and community activities in Buckinghamshire.

The change affects people who use the existing Bucks Online Directory to search for help, as well as organisations that use it to publicise what they offer. The council says the new marketplace is intended to keep support, services and community activity visible in one place.

For residents and carers, the practical change is the place they search. From 1 July, Joy Marketplace should be treated as the primary route for finding listed adult services and community support in Buckinghamshire.

Listed groups need to create a new entry

Any service, group or organisation with a current Bucks Online Directory listing should not assume it will automatically remain visible after the switch.

Providers are being asked to create a new listing on Joy Marketplace if they want to keep publicising their service or group. That includes organisations offering adult support, local activities, voluntary-sector help, community groups or other services that residents may search for through the council-backed directory route.

The key action is simple: existing directory users should move their listing before the old directory is replaced.

Who the change affects in Buckinghamshire

The switch is relevant to:

  • Buckinghamshire residents searching for adult services or local support.
  • Carers and family members looking for groups, activities or organisations.
  • Community groups currently listed on Bucks Online Directory.
  • Service providers that use the directory to reach local people.
  • Voluntary and support organisations that want to remain searchable after 1 July.

The source notice refers to adult services, groups, organisations and activities, so the change is focused on local support and community signposting rather than a general business directory.

What to do before the directory changes

Residents should expect to search Joy Marketplace for adult services and community activity from 1 July.

Groups and providers with an existing Bucks Online Directory listing should create a new Joy Marketplace listing to keep their service visible. The council’s notice does not state that old listings will be transferred automatically, so providers should treat the new listing as a required step.

The replacement applies across Buckinghamshire, with Joy Marketplace becoming the main place for people to find local adult support services, groups and community activity from 1 July.
