Residents across the Causeway Coast and Glens have a new range of creative opportunities to look forward to this autumn. The Causeway Coast & Glens Arts Service has launched an expanded outreach programme running from September through December 2026, designed to bring professional-led workshops and artistic experiences directly into local communities. By hosting sessions in towns such as Ballycastle, Ballymoney, Cushendun, and Feeny, the initiative aims to reduce travel barriers and increase local access to the arts.

Programme Highlights and Creative Sessions

The autumn schedule features a diverse array of disciplines, catering to various age groups and skill levels. Participants can engage with professional artists through hands-on workshops, including:

Creative Workshops Coming to Ballycastle, Ballymoney and Feeny
  • Photography: Masterclasses led by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Cathal McNaughton.
  • Crafts: Fused glass jewellery making sessions hosted by Natasha Duddy.
  • Writing: Creative writing workshops facilitated by award-winning author Moyra Donaldson.
  • Family Engagement: Seasonal, Halloween-themed creative activities specifically designed for children.

In addition to these workshops, the programme includes a unique week-long residency by Ballycastle-based visual artist Joan Alexander. Titled ‘Proof of Ghosts | The Postal Darkroom’, this project runs from 13–19 September. It invites public participation to explore themes of photography, absence, and local ghost stories through conversation and collaborative making.

For those looking to develop their own creative practice, the council also provides ongoing support through the Culture, Arts & Heritage Small Grants Scheme, as well as specific bursaries for creative practitioners and young people. These funding streams are intended to assist with project development and professional growth, with the next application window scheduled to open in December.
