Croydon mayor backs Palace victory parade talks

Croydon’s executive mayor has congratulated Crystal Palace Football Club after its 2026 UEFA Conference League Final win and said the council would be willing to work with the club on celebration plans for a possible victory parade in the borough.

Jason Perry, writing as Executive Mayor of Croydon and a Palace season ticket holder, said the club had made history by winning its first European final, a year after its FA Cup victory at Wembley.

Mayor offers Croydon civic celebration support

In a letter addressed to the club chairman, Perry said Croydon Council would be “honoured” to help deliver a victory parade and civic celebration if the club chooses to bring the trophy home to supporters.

He said the event would give Palace fans across Croydon and South London a chance to gather around the team, manager, players, staff and supporters who contributed to the European win.

The council has not announced a date, route or format for any parade. The mayor’s statement signals willingness from the town hall, rather than confirmation that a public event has been agreed.

Selhurst Park and South London pride

Perry described Crystal Palace as part of South London’s identity, pointing to the club’s links with families, schools, businesses, community groups and generations of supporters in Croydon and beyond.

Selhurst Park, Palace’s home ground, sits at the centre of that local connection. The mayor said Croydon was proud to be the club’s home and called the European trophy a moment that many long-standing supporters could only have dreamed of.

Parade plans still depend on club talks

Any civic celebration would require coordination between Crystal Palace Football Club, Croydon Council and public safety partners before details could be released to residents.

For now, the confirmed position is that Croydon’s mayor has formally congratulated the club and offered council support for a celebration in the place Palace calls home.
