Residents in Wolverhampton will be able to raise neighbourhood issues directly with police, council representatives and community services at the next Love Your Community sessions, starting on Tuesday 9 June.

The drop-in meetings are free to attend and open to all local residents. The first confirmed session takes place at Bilston Town Hall on Tuesday 9 June from 6.30pm to 8pm, followed by further ward sessions at East Park, Spring Vale, Wednesfield South and Ettingshall North between 10 June and 23 June.

The City of Wolverhampton Council says the sessions are designed for people who want to talk about local priorities, find out what is happening nearby and share concerns about issues affecting their streets, open spaces and neighbourhoods.

Five Wolverhampton sessions confirmed for June

The Love Your Community sessions are held across Wolverhampton wards on a regular basis, with the next run beginning in Bilston. That opening event will include Leader of the Council, Councillor Stephen Simkins, on the panel.

Confirmed sessions include:

Date and time Ward and venue
Tuesday 9 June, 6.30pm to 8pm Bilston Town Hall
Wednesday 10 June, 6pm East Park, Parish Church of Saint Matthew
Friday 12 June, 11am Spring Vale, Spring Vale Library
Thursday 18 June, 4pm Wednesfield South, Bentley Bridge Retail Park
Tuesday 23 June, 5.30pm Ettingshall North, Ettingshall Memorial

Entry is free, and the council says all are welcome. Details are available via Eventbrite or by emailing [email protected].

A place to raise street-level concerns

The sessions bring together representatives from Wolverhampton Police, the City of Wolverhampton Council, Wolverhampton’s Anti-Social Behaviour team and other community services.

For residents, the format is intended to be direct rather than formal: a chance to speak to organisations involved in local safety, neighbourhood services and community activity, and to share information about what is happening in their area.

The brief for the meetings is broad. People can use the sessions to discuss neighbourhood priorities, ask about local activities, talk about issues affecting public spaces, and connect with councillors, police, local businesses and community groups.

Councillor Obaida Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Community, described the meetings as a forum for residents to meet organisations and discuss neighbourhood priorities.

Who should attend

The sessions are aimed at local residents in the relevant Wolverhampton wards, but the council has made clear that entry is free and all are welcome.

They may be particularly useful for people who want to speak in person about anti-social behaviour, local spaces, community safety, ward-level priorities or activities taking place nearby. The council has not listed any booking requirement in the source notice, only that further details can be found through Eventbrite or by contacting [email protected].

Dates for further Love Your Community meetings covering other Wolverhampton wards will be announced in due course.
