Glasgow murder inquiry seeks footage from Parkhead

Police have launched a murder investigation after Paul McMinigal was found fatally injured inside the close of a block of flats in Glasgow.
Emergency services attended Burgher Street at around 3pm on Friday, 24 July 2026, following a report of a seriously injured man. Mr McMinigal, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team is asking people in Parkhead to report anything suspicious they saw and check private CCTV or dash-cam recordings that could help detectives establish what happened.

Police Scotland formally identified the victim as Paul McMinigal. His family has asked for privacy and continues to be supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen McGrath, the senior investigating officer, said the force’s thoughts remained with Mr McMinigal’s family during an “extremely difficult time”.
Police have not released details about the nature of Mr McMinigal’s injuries or the circumstances that led to his death. Detectives said extensive enquiries were continuing to establish the full sequence of events.
The confirmed information therefore remains limited: Mr McMinigal was found seriously injured within the tenement close, emergency services attended, and he was pronounced dead there. The investigation is now being treated as murder.

A police presence will remain in the area while enquiries continue. Officers acknowledged that the death would cause concern locally and said residents could approach officers in the area with information or concerns.

People who live, work or travelled through Burgher Street or Parkhead Cross are being asked to think back to Friday afternoon and review any relevant private CCTV or dash-cam recordings. Police have asked the public to check whether anything was captured that could assist the investigation.
