Milton Keynes Great Get Together starts free events

Milton Keynes residents are being invited to a run of free Great Get Together events across the city, starting on Saturday 6 June at Netherfield Meeting Place.

The community event series is open to everyone, with the first session running from 11am to 2pm at Netherfield Meeting Place, Farmborough, Netherfield, MK6 4HS. Further events will follow at locations including Wolverton Bath House, Chepstow Community Centre, Conniburrow Community Centre, Memorial Hall, Rainbows Family Centre, Trinity Centre Fishermead, Saplings Family Centre, The Olney Centre and Centrecom Community Centre.

Organised by the My Neighbourhoods Group and Milton Keynes City Council, the programme is aimed at residents who want to meet neighbours, speak to council teams and partners, access housing advice, or find out how to get involved in local neighbourhood improvements.

Free community sessions across Milton Keynes

The Great Get Together is being staged as a series of ten events in different parts of Milton Keynes, rather than as one central gathering. That means residents have a choice of dates and locations between June and November.

Each event is free to attend and open to everyone, according to Milton Keynes City Council. The source notice says residents can expect refreshments and activities, as well as the chance to speak directly with council teams and partner organisations about local issues.

The events have been arranged by the My Neighbourhoods Group, which is made up of council tenants and the city council. The group’s stated aim is to help bring communities closer and give people a route into local conversations about the places where they live.

For readers looking for other local drop-in support, Beehive Web has also covered a free Milton Keynes carers event taking place in June.

Housing advice, activities and council teams

The source notice says residents will be able to enjoy refreshments and activities, meet neighbours, and speak to council teams and partners. Housing advice is specifically listed as one of the areas residents can raise at the events.

The format also gives residents a way to ask about getting involved in improving their neighbourhood. For some people, that may mean a practical conversation about local services; for others, it may be a first step into a tenant or community group.

Cllr Ed Hume, Cabinet Member for Housing, joined the My Neighbourhoods Group earlier in the week as preparations were made for the first event. He said the programme was intended to strengthen the connection between residents and the council, adding that communities are stronger when people feel heard, supported and involved in local decisions.

“These events give residents a real opportunity to share their views, access support and play a direct role in shaping the future of their neighbourhoods,” Cllr Hume said in the council notice.

What residents need to know before going

No ticket price is listed because the events are free. The council notice also says they are open to everyone, so the sessions are not limited to council tenants.

The confirmed programme runs from Saturday 6 June to Friday 27 November, with venues spread across Milton Keynes, Bletchley, Wolverton, Woburn Sands, Bradville, Fishermead, Olney and Central Milton Keynes.

The source does not list booking, transport or accessibility arrangements, so residents should use the confirmed date, time and venue details when planning which Great Get Together session is most convenient.
