Pets at Home Summer Appeal: donate across UK from 10 August
From 10 to 31 August, shoppers can support the Feed the Nation’s Pets This Summer! Summer Appeal at more than 450 Pets at Home stores across the UK. There is no set ticket price: participation is donation-based, with customers able to purchase a pet food parcel or make a monetary contribution.
The nationwide collection is being run by Blue Cross, Pets at Home and Pets Foundation, the retailer’s charitable arm. It is open to the general public and pet owners who want to support families struggling to feed their animals during continuing cost-of-living pressures.
More than 450 stores will collect donations
The appeal turns visits to Pets at Home stores into collection opportunities throughout the three-week campaign. Blue Cross says the timing coincides with the summer school holidays, when some households face additional financial pressure.
Customers do not need to travel to a single event venue. Donations can be made through any participating Pets at Home store among the retailer’s 450-plus locations nationwide.
The organisations have worked together to provide pet food support since 2021. According to Blue Cross, their pet food bank activity has fed more than 4.5 million pets across the country during that period. The Summer Appeal is intended to extend that assistance to more households facing difficult choices over everyday spending.

Food parcels and cash support different parts of the work
Shoppers have two ways to take part. They can purchase a pet food parcel in a Pets at Home store or make a monetary donation during the appeal.
Every food parcel collected through the campaign will be distributed through Blue Cross pet food banks and local food bank partners. Cash contributions will go to Blue Cross to support vulnerable pets and their owners.
That distinction gives donors a clear choice. A food parcel contributes directly to the stock distributed through food banks, while a monetary donation supports the charity’s wider work with pets and the people caring for them.
Chris Burghes, chief executive officer at Blue Cross, said the partnership is designed to help prevent families from having to choose between feeding themselves and feeding a pet. He described pets as a source of companionship and comfort, as well as an integral part of many families.

Amy Wilson, fundraising manager at Pets Foundation, said keeping pets with their families and supporting healthy lives at home are central to the organisation’s work.
What to know before visiting a store
The appeal runs nationwide from Monday 10 August until Monday 31 August. Participation is based on donations rather than admission, and the announcement directs customers to visit their nearest Pets at Home and speak to a member of the store team.
No daily start or finish time is specified. The published information also does not provide campaign-specific transport or accessibility arrangements, so donors should rely on the details available for their chosen store.
Anyone taking part can select either a pet food parcel or a monetary contribution during their visit. Donations collected by the final day of the appeal will support Blue Cross pet food banks, local food bank partners, vulnerable pets and their owners.
