Restored silent films lead BFI Player’s November line-up
BFI Player’s November 2026 releases arrive in weekly batches, beginning on 2 November with restored silent films Shiraz: A Romance of India and Piccadilly. The month’s line-up also includes British classics, international cinema and a documentary made from Super 8 films. The BFI says new subscribers can get a 14-day free trial; the source does not specify the subscription price after the trial.
Films arrive each Monday in November
2 November: Shiraz: A Romance of India (India, 1928), the story behind the building of the Taj Mahal, has been restored by the BFI with a new score by sitar player Anoushka Shankar. Restored silent classic Piccadilly (UK, 1929) stars Anna May Wong and is set in London’s Jazz Age clubland.

9 November: Spanish comedy-drama The Other Way Around (2024), a subscription exclusive, follows a couple who throw a party to mark their breakup after 15 years together. The film won best European film at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight in 2024. Also arriving are Faithless (Sweden, 2000), written by Ingmar Bergman and directed by Liv Ullmann; Anthony Asquith’s A Cottage on Dartmoor (UK, 1930); and the First World War naval drama The Battles of Coronel and Falkland Islands (UK, 1927), filmed on real battleships supplied by the Admiralty.

16 November: Stranger in the House (UK, 1967) brings a murder story involving teenagers in Winchester. Asquith’s Underground (UK, 1928) centres on love, jealousy and murder in London, with a chase through the Underground.

23 November: Super Nature (UK, 2026), a subscription exclusive directed by Ed Sayers, brings together work by 25 filmmakers capturing nature on Super 8.
30 November: Gangster No.1 (UK, 2000) follows a London crime boss’s rise and fall, starring Malcolm McDowell, Paul Bettany and David Thewlis. Peter Sellers stars as a schoolteacher drawn into corruption in Mr. Topaze (USA, 1961), a rare film sourced from the actor’s personal print.
