TaithCymru launches 25 October with a faster Wales route
TaithCymru, a new daily coach service between Bangor and Carmarthen, will begin on Sunday 25 October 2026. The route is intended for the general public, including people travelling for work, education, healthcare or leisure, and is expected to cut north–south journey times by more than an hour.
Tickets will go on sale through Transport for Wales at 10:00 on Tuesday 6 October. Fares have not yet been confirmed and will be published when the online booking system goes live, according to the Welsh Government announcement.

The service will link a chain of towns along Wales’s western side rather than following a direct motorway corridor. Its intermediate stops place communities in Gwynedd, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire on one continuous long-distance route.
More than an hour cut from north–south journeys
Transport for Wales says TaithCymru will reduce journey times by more than an hour. The announcement does not provide the full timetable or the journey duration against which that saving was calculated, so passengers will need to check individual departure and arrival times when booking opens.
The route is designed to improve access to regional centres for employment, education, healthcare and leisure. It will run alongside TrawsCymru, local bus services and Fflecsi as part of the Welsh Government’s plan for a more integrated public transport network.
That does not yet confirm timed connections or through-ticketing between services. Travellers planning an onward journey should use the published timetable once it becomes available rather than assuming every connection will align.

A new public transport option for visitors
The Bangor–Carmarthen route also passes through areas used as gateways to Eryri National Park, the Llŷn Peninsula and Cardigan Bay. This gives visitors another way to reach destinations across western Wales without completing the entire journey by car.
For residents, the practical change is the addition of one daily long-distance link connecting towns that are otherwise served by a mixture of regional and local transport. Transport for Wales describes the coach as part of a wider effort to support lower-carbon travel and sustainable tourism.
Ticket sales open before fares are confirmed
Bookings are due to open through a Transport for Wales online system at 10:00 on Tuesday 6 October. The fare schedule, full departure timetable, first-service time and accessibility arrangements were not included in the launch announcement.
Passengers considering the service can first check whether their town appears on the confirmed route. The next firm milestone is 6 October, when the booking system is expected to go live and the final fares should become available.
