Wellingborough W3 bus route links Kingsway to town
By the beehiveweb.co.uk news desk
A new weekday bus service is now running between Wellingborough town centre and the Kingsway area, giving residents another option for local journeys and off-peak shopping trips.
North Northamptonshire Council has joined with CommMiniBus to launch the W3 bus route. The service began on Tuesday 26 May and runs Monday to Friday, with stops serving Church Street, Abbey Road, Kingsway, Princess Way, Berrymoor Road and Berrymoor Court.
During off-peak hours, selected journeys extend to Sainsbury’s, helping shoppers travel between Kingsway, the supermarket and the town centre without relying on a car.

W3 route covers Kingsway, Berrymoor and Sainsbury’s
The W3 is designed as a local link between Wellingborough town centre and residential streets around Kingsway. Buses towards Kingsway start from Church Street, Bay C, before serving the route through Abbey Road, Kingsway, Princess Way and Berrymoor Road.
The council said the service has been partially funded by North Northamptonshire Council. CommMiniBus is operating the route.
For residents in the Kingsway area, the biggest practical change is the regular weekday connection into the town centre. For shoppers, the off-peak extension to Sainsbury’s adds a direct supermarket link during the middle of the day.

Weekday W3 times from Church Street and Kingsway
The route currently runs Monday to Friday. A Saturday service is planned to be introduced later, but no start date has been confirmed in the council notice.

What Kingsway residents can use it for
The W3 gives Kingsway and Berrymoor residents a scheduled weekday route for town centre errands, appointments, commuting connections and supermarket trips.
The off-peak Sainsbury’s extension is likely to be most useful for people travelling outside the morning and evening rush, especially those carrying shopping or making short local journeys.
Anyone planning a Saturday journey should check for a later update before travelling, as the council has only said that Saturday buses will be introduced in due course.
