Ealing Council has introduced a new logo that residents will begin seeing across council services, communications and the authority’s website.

The London Borough of Ealing said the updated design was created by its in-house communications team, with no design cost. The logo will be rolled out gradually to avoid extra spending on signs, vehicles and equipment before they are due for replacement.

Accessible design for council services

The council said its previous logo had been in use for decades, with only small changes over time. It was replaced because it no longer met national accessibility standards and had been designed before modern digital media became central to public communication.

The updated logo is intended to work more clearly across online platforms, printed materials and council service channels. Residents may already have seen it on the council website and Around Ealing channels, where the council logo update has been made without additional rollout costs.

Seven parts for seven towns

The new design keeps a tree as its central symbol, maintaining a link to the borough’s historic coat of arms.

Ealing Council said the logo has seven components, representing the seven towns in the borough. Its fingerprint-style shape is intended to reflect both the distinct communities of those towns and the individuality of residents served by the council.

The wording has also changed from “Ealing” to “London Borough of Ealing”, to make clear that the identity refers to the whole borough rather than one town or only the council itself.

Gradual replacement across the borough

The council said physical signs, vehicle markings and equipment logos will be replaced only when needed, such as when a vehicle lease ends or existing signage is already due to be changed.

The new logo will also appear on planned signs at Perceval House, where signage work was already part of a project to open public spaces in the building for community use.
