Former refugee Sagal Abdi-Wali takes helm as Camden leader
Councillor Sagal Abdi-Wali has been appointed as the new Leader of Camden Council, following a formal announcement of the local authority’s new cabinet. Her appointment represents a historic milestone for the borough, as she becomes the first Black woman to lead the council.
Councillor Abdi-Wali, who was first elected to represent her ward in 2022, moves into the leadership role after serving as the Cabinet Member for Better Homes.
