Free Big Conversation care events in West Northamptonshire

West Northamptonshire residents, carers and families who use adult social care services are being invited to take part in the Big Conversation: Adult Social Care Strategy Engagement Events, a free series of public consultation sessions starting on Monday 29 June.

The sessions are being run by West Northamptonshire Council as it develops a new Adult Social Care Strategy. They are aimed at people who draw on care and support, as well as family members and carers who want their experiences to shape future services.

The events are free to attend. In-person sessions run across Northampton, Daventry and Towcester between 29 June and 2 July, with a dedicated online Microsoft Teams session for unpaid carers on Saturday 4 July from 10am to 12pm.

Five local sessions before the online carers event

The programme gives people several ways to speak directly about what is working well, what needs to improve and what matters most in adult social care.

Area Date, time and venue
Northampton North & East 29 June, 10am-12pm, Broadmead Church, NN3 2QY
Northampton Central 29 June, 2pm-4pm, Doddridge Centre, NN5 5LD
Northampton South & West 1 July, 10am-12pm, Duston Community Centre, NN5 6DT
Rural North & West 2 July, 10am-12pm, Daventry Leisure Centre, NN11 4FP

Unpaid carers can also take part in a dedicated online session via Microsoft Teams on Saturday 4 July, from 10am to 12pm.

What residents are being asked to share

The council says the events are part of a wider engagement programme for its new Adult Social Care Strategy. The focus is on hearing directly from people with experience of care and support, including residents who receive services, relatives and unpaid carers.

Cllr Laura Couse, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Public Health at West Northamptonshire Council, said people’s experiences of care and support must shape how services are delivered in future. She said the council wants to hear what is working well, what needs to improve and what matters most to people.

For readers following wider changes to care policy, recent coverage of direct payment rules for care users shows how local councils are continuing to review practical parts of adult social care.

Online survey remains open until 30 July

People who cannot attend one of the events, or who prefer to give feedback online, can complete the Adult Social Care survey. The survey is open until 30 July 2026.

West Northamptonshire Council says support is available for people who may need help to take part. That includes alternative formats, help with travel, or speaking with groups in their own settings.
