Haringey pupils seek help for Egypt trip

Haringey Learning Partnership has launched a fundraiser to help its Year 11 cohort take part in an overseas enrichment trip to Egypt.

The borough’s Alternative Provision hub is asking local residents and supporters to contribute through its JustGiving appeal, with the aim of widening access to a trip described by the school community as inspirational and life-affirming.

Alternative provision pupils set sights on Egypt

HLP works with young people in Haringey’s Alternative Provision system, where education is shaped around pupils who may need a different setting from mainstream school.

The planned Egypt visit sits within the hub’s wider enrichment and personal development offer. For many pupils, a school trip abroad can be a first chance to travel, experience another culture and build confidence outside the classroom.

The campaign is focused on this year’s Year 11 cohort, a group reaching a major transition point as they move toward exams, further education, training or work.

Three years of overseas trips have built momentum

HLP said it had long hoped to take pupils abroad before turning that ambition into reality through fundraising in 2022.

Since then, students have taken part in trips to France in 2023, Spain in 2024 and Germany in 2025. The proposed Egypt visit would take the programme beyond Europe for the first time.

That record gives local donors a clear view of what the appeal is trying to support: not a one-off gesture, but a continuing effort to make broader experiences available to young people in Alternative Provision.

How local residents can support the appeal

Residents who want to help are being directed to the HLP JustGiving page, where donations to the Egypt trip fundraiser can be made.

The appeal is aimed at making the visit possible for pupils who may otherwise miss out on an experience that combines travel, learning and personal development at a formative stage of their education.
