Londoners can question the proposals that could guide the capital’s development for the next 20 to 25 years during a free online Draft London Plan consultation event on Wednesday 22 July.

The 90-minute webinar is open to London residents, community groups, students and anyone interested in the future of the capital. It will introduce the Draft London Plan, explain why it matters and show participants how to contribute to the public consultation.

A route into London’s next 20 to 25 years

The Draft London Plan contains proposals covering housing, transport, the environment, economic development and other areas connected with how London could grow. Rather than expecting attendees to arrive with detailed planning knowledge, the online session is designed as an introduction to the document and the consultation process.

Participants will hear what the plan covers and how their responses can become part of the formal process. According to information published by London City Hall Events, feedback received during the consultation will help inform the next London Plan before it is submitted for independent examination.

That gives the webinar a practical purpose for people who may be affected by London’s future development but are unsure how to respond to a large planning document. It also offers community groups and students an opportunity to raise questions directly rather than relying only on written consultation material.

Questions can be submitted before or during the webinar

People registering for the Draft London Plan consultation webinar can send questions in advance. The organisers encourage this so that as many queries as possible can be addressed during the session.

There will also be a live question-and-answer element. Attendees can contribute through the Microsoft Teams chat or speak directly during the session, giving participants several ways to take part depending on how they prefer to communicate.

British Sign Language interpretation will be provided. Anyone with additional accessibility requirements is asked to include them while registering or contact the organisers before the event.

Attendees should also be aware that the Teams chat will be open during the webinar. A participant’s name may be visible to other attendees when they post a comment, so the organisers advise using the chat only if that visibility is acceptable.

Registration is required before joining on 22 July

The webinar is free, but attendance is not automatic: participants must register through the official London City Hall website. The registration information will be used by the Greater London Authority and its named service provider to administer the event and issue the webinar invitation.

A second accessible session is planned for September, although its date has not yet been confirmed. Both sessions will include BSL interpretation, advance questions and live participation options.

The wider Draft London Plan consultation remains open beyond the July webinar. Responses must be submitted by 5pm on Thursday 15 October 2026. Anyone with a question they particularly want addressed can enter it when completing the registration form for the 22 July Microsoft Teams session.
