Dice games send young artists into a mixed-up dimension

The workshop begins with a story-led challenge: Dr Fink has accidentally opened a vortex into a scrambled science-fiction dimension and needs young comic artists to explore it. Through an imaginative drawalong, playful dice games and hands-on comic-making activities, children will develop unusual futuristic characters and create their own science-fiction adventures.

The emphasis is on curiosity, storytelling and creative freedom rather than prior drawing ability. Daff will also bring his library of children’s graphic novels for participants to use as inspiration during the session.

The Nightingale Pavilion event follows his sellout Comic Art Workshop at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus Big Screen. His workshops combine practical drawing activities with games and storytelling. Daff also works with the Queen Edith’s Community Forum and has received support from Cambridge City Council to expand creative arts provision for children in Queen Ediths.

Drop-off arrangements and accessible facilities

This is being run as a drop-off session. Parents and carers may remain when their child needs additional support. Daff and his adult assistant are both DBS checked, and public liability insurance is in place.
