Milton Keynes pupils invited to design school safety banner

Milton Keynes primary school children are being invited to enter a new road safety design competition aimed at improving parking behaviour outside school gates.

The Park Smart Banner Competition is being run by Milton Keynes City Council in partnership with MKFM. Children are asked to create a bright banner with a clear message about safe and considerate parking during the school run.

Who can enter the Milton Keynes competition

The competition is open to all primary school children in Milton Keynes. Entries can be submitted through schools, or individually by parents and guardians.

The winning design will be professionally produced as a banner and made available free of charge to all Milton Keynes primary schools. The council says the aim is to give children a direct voice in reminding drivers to keep school entrances safer and less congested.

How to submit a banner design

Families and schools should download the template entry form from the council’s road safety page, then create the design inside the banner shape using bright colours and a short, memorable message.

Completed entries can be emailed to highways.liaison@milton-keynes.gov.uk or dropped off at the council’s Civic office, Saxon Gate East, Milton Keynes, MK9 3EJ, before the deadline.

Councillor Kerrie Bradburn, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, said small changes in driver behaviour can make a big difference around school gates, and that the banners will help spread the message across Milton Keynes.
