Rochford jobs could grow as airport park expands
Plans expected to support new jobs and business growth in Rochford District have been approved, clearing the way for 10 commercial units at Airport Business Park, Southend.
Councillors approved the development at the Rochford District Council Development Committee meeting on 29 July 2026. The scheme will provide almost 6,000 square metres of employment space across Plots 9 and 10.
New space for industrial and business occupiers
The units are intended to accommodate a range of businesses, with space for modern industrial operations, storage and general business use. The development responds to demand for additional commercial premises in the district.
For local businesses, the extra capacity could provide room to expand or relocate within the area. The council also links the project to investment and job creation, although no employment total has been confirmed.
Airport Business Park’s role in Rochford
The business park sits within the strategic employment area surrounding London Southend Airport. The site has become one of Rochford District’s key economic assets, attracting investment and supporting expanding companies.
Councillor Adi Malviya, Leader of Rochford District Council, said the development would build on the park’s success and support the council’s ambition for a strong, resilient local economy.
The approved phase is intended to strengthen Airport Business Park as an employment location and give the district more capacity for future business growth.
