Two drop-in events in Middlewich and Macclesfield

Cheshire East Council is supporting Carers Week 2026, which runs from 8 to 14 June, with events organised by Cheshire East Carers Hub and adult social care.

The first event takes place on Tuesday 9 June at Salinae Day Centre, Middlewich, CW10 9DG. The second takes place on Thursday 11 June in the Silk Room at Macclesfield Town Hall, Macclesfield, SK10 1EA.

Both sessions run from 10.30am to 2.30pm. Refreshments will be available, and residents can attend without booking in advance.

The council says more than 34,000 residents across Cheshire East are unpaid carers, around one in every 11 people aged five and over. They may be supporting family members, friends or neighbours living with long-term illness, disability, mental health needs or age-related conditions.

Support available on the day

The events are designed to connect carers with organisations offering practical advice and local support. The source information lists help across health and wellbeing, benefits and financial advice, dementia support, young carers services, community groups and respite activities.

There will also be information on end-of-life and future planning support. For some residents, the value may be in finding a named service; for others, it may simply be a chance to speak with people who understand the day-to-day pressure of unpaid care.

Feedback shared by local carers points to the same themes: connection, flexibility, meals, and support that fits around caring responsibilities. One comment included in the council’s notice said: “Talking to other carers made all the difference.”

Carers Week activity is also being listed in other areas, including support events for Shropshire carers, as councils and local services use the week to make advice easier to find.

Residents who do not call themselves carers are included

Councillor Jill Rhodes, Cheshire East Council cabinet member for adult social care, said unpaid carers support loved ones and the wider health and care system across the borough.

She said Carers Week is a chance to raise awareness and help create communities where carers feel valued, supported and understood.

Residents who care for someone “even if they do not think of themselves as a carer” are encouraged to attend the events, seek support and connect with others.

Enquiries before attending

The practical details are straightforward: Tuesday 9 June at Salinae Day Centre in Middlewich, Thursday 11 June at Macclesfield Town Hall, both from 10.30am to 2.30pm, free to attend and no booking required.

For enquiries or specific circumstances, carers can email CarersInbox@cheshireeast.gov.uk or Cheshire East Carers Hub at enquiries@cheshireeastcarershub.co.uk.
