SEND families invited to respond by 12 June
Every child or young person with an Education, Health and Care Plan must have that plan reviewed at least once a year. The Annual Review checks whether the support written into the plan is still meeting the child or young person’s needs and whether changes are needed.
West Northamptonshire Council is seeking views from families who use the process, including children and young people themselves. Young people can take part with support from parents, carers, schools, settings or another trusted adult if they need help to share their views.
Who can take part in the EHCP review survey
The council says it wants to hear from parents and carers, as well as children and young people who have experience of EHCP Annual Reviews.
Families are being asked to comment on what works well, what could be better and how the review process supports children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

The consultation is intended to capture practical experiences from those directly affected by the system, rather than only professional or administrative views.
Why the council is asking for feedback
Annual Reviews are a key point in the EHCP process because they decide whether current support remains suitable. For families, the review can affect school support, health input, care arrangements and the wider planning around a child or young person’s education.
West Northamptonshire Council says it wants to improve how the process feels and works for families, schools and settings. The feedback is expected to help identify parts of the system that are clear, as well as areas where families may need better guidance or easier ways to give information.
How feedback will be used
The council says responses will be considered as part of planned improvements to Annual Review forms, the online system and guidance and support for schools.
It aims to introduce changes by the start of the next school year where possible. Parents and carers have a separate survey link from children and young people, and both groups are being encouraged to respond before the 12 June deadline.
